Here are the road signs which will
adorn the Quebec countryside in the
future. These panels will be changed
gradually, as necessary. The board of
directors is encouraging all groups or
individuals who so wish, to submit
a similar project to their respective
governments. For more information,

Thank You So Much!
It always tugs at the heartstrings to lose people with whom we have
shared significant moments in an organization such as ours. Along with
the work we did, we have come to create links of friendship above and
beyond those of sharing the tasks at hand. Their contribution and their
time were indispensable assets in our evolution.
A special thank you goes out to Sylvie Denault> You have given nearly
four complete years of your time to our association. Your determination
and professionalism, combined with precise goals, have been known to
make the Canadian Horse Breeders Association move forward. We know you
can now say "mission accomplished," even if, at the beginning, it was
practically "mission impossible." Hats off to you for your excellent
work!
A thank you also goes out to Christie Riddell, who gave the CHBA many
good years in spite of a packed schedule in Nova Scotia: Your
cooperation has been invaluable.
A final thank you is addressed to Michael Roberts: The travelling
distance for you to attend our meetings has sometimes been a heavy cross
to bear. But we are grateful for your collaboration. The time you
invested in the CHBA will always be appreciated.
It's with great pride that the three of you are leaving your respective
administrative posts and we thank you all very much.

A look back at the 2007 AGM
It's time for a postmortem of last April's AGM. For a while now - some
would say for too long - we have not had a meeting as amicable, calm and
filled with positive communication. You came in pretty sufficient
numbers. And fortunately so, because some of you had travelled by plane
and by car to join us this year. We are, in short, grateful.
We were not able to get around to the vote regarding the amendments that
appeared in the journal because the process turned out to be more
complicated than originally thought, especially since this question
keeps popping up through the years on a regular basis. The Board of
directors will study the issue in depth through its constitution
committee. The proposition had to be transformed into a notice of
motion. Our mandate during this year will therefore be to make a
historic report of the breed in relation to the evelution of the number
of members per territorial jurisdiction, as well as a study of other
rules of organization linked to the genealogy of the animals pertaining
to their international members. We will have to furnish a conclusion on
these subjects and present them to the next AGM in 2008.
Last year, some requests were made of us regarding the breakdown of
figures on our end-of-the-year report, and we produced it. Then, also,
the creation of the Promotion committee was one of the very big points
on which our work began and which still continues because we need short,
medium and long-term marketing plans. Our horses are here to stay and we
must make them known, loved and sold to a greater number of people.
There are some other requests made again this year in order to improve
the transparency of our deeds and we are going to submit them to you.
At the end of the first part of our meeting, the made of Sylvie Denault
ended, as well as that of Dr. Christie Riddell. The candiacies of Luc
Lalande and Dale Myggland having been received in good and due form at
the CHBA head office, those two were declared elected as directors. One
vacancy on the board of directors remains to be filled for 2007-08.
At the end of the meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Pierre
Tardif and Dr. Susanne Laurence. These two prominent people talked about
topics that affect us all. The first subject, treated by Dr. Tardif,
dealt with having foals and the different problems that can occur. The
second subject, spoken about by Dr. Laurence, was embryonic transfer and
new reproduction technologies. We are already seeking subjects for next
year.
We wound up the session with a friendly gathering at the Calo farm. The
Loiselle family generously received us by offering us beverages and
lunch. All those who had been present at the meeting were invited.
Several of us accepted the invitation.
The CHBA boutique was there in order to present the material it has in
hand. Mr. Lalonde is currently developing other products, among them the
famous car licence plates that certain people have been asking for again
and again to attach to the front of their vehicles. He is also working
to find a method to improve our registrations (paper of superior
quality, more attractive presentation in general) so that our
distinguished image can also be improved once again.
As it consisted first and foremost of a meeting of members, you still
had the possibility of bringing your products and advertising. Mr.
Loiselle and Mrs. Garland took advantage of this and it was a big
success. The more the years pass by at the CHBA level, the more I
realize that we are really capable of working together. This gives me
faith in our associations future.
See you again next year!!!
